This chess set began as a personal project in 2016. Each piece began as a hand-sculpted model, moulded and cast in porcelain before firing, hand sanding and finishing.
Extensive historical research was undertaken in order to inform the design of the set. The pieces pay homage to the game’s long history which dates back to before the 6th century.
The chess pieces are available in the following colours:
- White
- Blue
- Sage green
- Charcoal
Materials:
– Chess pieces made from pure (or colour tinted) porcelain clay, filled and finished with a cork base.
– Chess Box available in solid walnut, finished with a brass Taus cup emblem. A high density foam insert holds the pieces securely.
– Chess boards made from etched leather, mounted to a wooden panel, edged in walnut to match to the box and finished with a cork base.
